Hello, I am struggling to get a pretty basic behaviour out of JFilter.

When I set Preset Filters (let say X and Y) in the Menu Options, those will ALWAYS display, even after user has chosesn another filter (let say Z). This is not like any other listing function out there.

User chooses Z because they do NOT want to see X and Y. Why make them have to see Z, X and Y? 

I have tried this using both Tags (parent and not parent) and Field (Made a special field for the Article which JFilter can index and pull from) and both display this behavior..

How do I stop it from doing this? All I want is for JFilter to display a defaul set (on intial load like Preset Filters) but when a use click on something else, all that should be displayed is what they chose. 

I've been through all your docs, and even used AI to try and find a solution. I looked at all the extension paraments and see nothing that will solve this, what should be a basic problem.

OK thanks. I understand a bit better now but and still finding some things frustrating. Everyone has a different approach to coding solutions so when you get a few of them together it can be very confusing as to what is actaully determining what.

At this point in time, I managed to get all the isses to display and the filters to work as I need.  A couple problems though..

1) I can't get the sorting tools to appear. This is Yootheme template and the Grid is GridPro from Flart. Flart actually suggested your component.

2) I need the sorting tools to work because I can't change how the cards/content are orederd in the display. It is currently stuck on ascending vlaue, and I need it to be descending (so the newest is first).  There is no option to do that from what I can see in JFilter. I've changed the ordering in the joomla category settings, menu item settings and still nothing. In the Grid, there is not option to change how they are ordered/displayed because I have to use the Dynamic "JFilter Results Items" for the filters to work.

So it looks like its either a configuration that needs to happen in Jfilter.  Is there anything I can do to simply change the display ordering? 

3) Lastly, is pagination or "load more" possible? I also can't find a way to get this to work.

I don't want to put images of my backend on a public post but am happy to provide a login if needed.

1 + 2) I have "Show sorting fields" to "show". I've also added a sorting rule. Nothing is being displayed.

Are you saying that I need to add a Yootheme element for sorting fields to display? This is not entirely obvious because the menu item options give the ability to Show Sorting and add Sorting options.  When I enable it, I expect something to happen. If not, some updated instructions on this would be nice. 

I will look into the more  recent update of Yoothem and hope that will add the option without breaking other stuff on the site. 

3) Load more would be great for SEO. Every "page" makes a new URL to index. As is the URLS don't looks good and will trigger missing pages from google if they change or are removed down the road. I got pagination to work, but the URL's append "/magazine?start=5". Again, this is somehting worth mentioning in the Yootheme integration page.

FLart has a "load more" which works in certain specifications of YooTheme. You can see an example at https://dev.adventuremotorcycle.com/news

That said, it looks like we have to adda YooTheme elements for the pagination to show up. This is not entirely obvious since the setting are in JFilter. It would be good to note that somewhere your Yootheme integration page.  I'm guess you don't get alot of Yootheme integration questions?

So great. I guess you've got a perfect product and I still have no way of changing the default ordering of the cards without upgrading to Pro 5, which you don't seem to be sure it will work or not. Desipite offering an integration, there's no documentation stating the limitations of your product with YooTheme integration. That IS YOUR reposnsibility as aproduct or service provider and your documentation is LACKING.

Glad I'm paying for "support" to tell me "Nah it can't be done and even though you took the time to explain the problems in details, your customer ideas are useless because everything we have is perefectly fine...so deal with it."

Awesome guys! Glad I pad almost 70 bucks for the "support." Customer is always wrong whe the work gets to hard, right? Gonna have to leave a glowing review somewhere.

I feeel like you're basically not offering me any help and categorically ignoring any points I make in messages.  Would you call that "support" if the shoes were reversed?  So it looks like you get to give me a "everything is fine, deal with it" run around and I just have to be polite about it? Like I have no customer rights?

By ignoring or selective choosing what points to respond to, you are fundamentally disrespecting me, my time and my money (which you've already taken). Try addressing these following points directly...one at a time. I'll number them for you to make it clear. This is normal professional standards which I'd appreaciate you attempt to follow. 

1) Your messages have cleary indicated there are limitations with JFIlter implemenations in YooTheme environments, right? Tell me, how many of those limitations are in your documentation? How much of my (or both of our) time and money could have been saved if you clearly stated these things? And whose responsbility is this ultimately?

2) The "Show Sorting" solution you keep sending a link to (and that's all I get is "look a this link again") does NOT work/appear in all versions of Yootheme. You have acknowledged this and said that it may work/appear with a recent launch of features in YooThemePro 5. Right?

Have you tested that JFilter sorting function will definitely work with YooThemePro5?  If yes, then say so. Its easy:  "We have successfully tested all the functionality in Pro 5. If you upgrade your YooTheme to Pro 5, all the features will work and you will be able to control the sorting." If not, then please tell me what solution you are acutally offering for this basic function.

3) If I use a "Grid > Item> Dynamic content > Custom Articles" in YooTheme, there are field options to dictate sorting which work in Advanced tab. But when I use Grid> Item > "JFilter Results Items" > Advanced, there's a fraction of the options, and none of them provide sorting/ordering.  Who would be responsible for including the function/parameter in that section whcih would work regardless of what version of YooTheme being used? Instead, the function is placed into an menu item which may or may not work with only the latest (3 month old) version of YooTheme. PLease tell me if this is not accurate and why.

These are detailed points and questions. If something is not clear. Please ask me to clarify. 

Your messages are being read but they aren't actually solving anything. If the link you sent solved the problem, we would not bere here. I could just as easily ask if you are reading my message which I'm spending a great deal of time adding details.. that selectivly don't get addressed. All I get is "You don't read or try to understand my messages" when you are in fact incapable or unwilling to respond point by point answers to clearly written and relevant questions. 

Not sure how many times I need to say this, but the "show sorting" is not function as you may think. I don't know whether this is global or just my site, but that's what "support" is for, yes? So, pretty please, don't send me the "show sorting" link again.

I offered to give you a back-end login which may have helped you understand. Maybe I have wrong setting or do not understand something. But you didn't want to do that. We have probably spent more time writing salty messages then actually fixing the problem. That is my biggest issue and frustration.

I appreciate you looking into #2 but I have already done it (see below). Let me be clear, all I want is a product that works. 

We upgraded to YooTheme Pro 5 and it does not display the sorting element. "Show Shorting" is active (menu item). Default Pagination works (to be clear, that means I added athe YTP pagination element and it populates/behaves as expected) so that's good insofar as it's the only option.

I am uploading screen shots of both the YTP5 with the "Search Ordering" element installed and you can see nothing is displaying. FWIW, it IS appearing to apply the sorting rules specified in Menu item >  Options.

So as of this moment (maybe your higly technical mind can ADD something to this): JFIlter sorting will only partially work with YTP4 without sorting. Upgrading to YTP5 and adding the "Search Ordering" element will allow JFilter to sort according to the first "Sorting Rules", but it will NOT display the front-end sorting options/fields/dropdown/etc.

And yes, this is direclty the behaviour of JFilter (in a YTP environment), according to your design, which I am using my own time and money to research its functional limits. If you could find a way to make the sorting options/fields display, it would be greatly appreciated in terms of support.
