Everything starts to look good on the Film Festival project with JFilters :)

Still I have one question: the shows should of course be ordered by date+time, which is a Custom Field.

(so not by Title nor by Date or Creation or Modification)

In this case I use YOOtheme.
There, when you choose "Custom Articles" as a dynamic source for a Grid Element, you can sort by any field available, including of course Custom Fields".
But when you use "JFilters Results Item" as a dynamic source for a Grid Element, then those sorting options are not present.

How could I order by this Date+Time Custom Field?
(in my case, even a workaround would be enough. Or if the options can easily be added to "JFilters Results Item" in YOOtheme, it is even more flexible for all users then.

Good catch.

When you use Articles from a Category then indeed you can sort directly from the Source options:

So that Grid can be ordered by any field, with JFilters Module on the side. Of course, as soon as you filter, you get to the JFilters results page where there is no such order.

But indeed when you customize the Smart Search result page then there are less options, ie the same as JFilters items :

So either there is a way to add the Sort field in YOOtheme, either I guess it should be possible to change the order by doing some override? But how then? (bc I guess that default_article.php is not triggered when using YT?)

Indeed, "sorting rules" feature is the next big thing in my eyes (together with the Calendar Field. Btw, why do you even need to wait for the range selector to allow Calendar Custom Fields in the Filters? I would allow the Calendar immediately so that people can already use it as it is... and later release the range selector).

Coming back to sorting, I really need a workaround in the short term.
So for next year's edition, I will be definitely more than happy/excited to use the new sorting feature, but in the short run I have thought of the following trick :

• the date of each event is a Custom Field of type Calendar
• I will put "manually" as Title of the Article... the date of the corresponding event (example : "2022.11.28 blabla")
• so this way, by sorting by Title, it will sort by "Date of event"

OK, not ideal, but good enough atm.

If you think of any other smart way to get the desired sorting, don't hesitate to brainstorm with me :)

The site starts to look nice.

I now have a workaround for Sorting if I use the Title (which will not be shown in the front-end then).

But I also found a solution for the rest (using a Task Scheduler to define past/future, to duplicate the value of the CF of related Articles, so that I can filter on those too with Jfilters, having a Map with all the locations showing the filtered movies, ...).
I try to finish all this in a week or two and you will have a stunning real-life demo of how far we can go with JFilters coupled with YOOtheme :)
