Hi, I have a couple of websites on different hosting packages that run Jfilters an they are both coming up with "Service unavailable" you then refresh and the site is fine again. It happens quite a lot, is this something you have come across? It is potentially to do with to many database requests.

All my other sites are okay that don't have jfilters on, so this is the only common denominator that I can think of.

I cannot give any credible answer, given that you provide no further information.

Please check your server's logs for more details.
Also, check if you are getting a lot of requests from specific IPs, which is an indication of DOS attacks.
Jfilters itself maybe functional, but increases the surface of attacks, given the many different combinations of requests it provides.
