Are you planning to introduce filtering/sorting for additional fields, for users?
The idea is quite simple - an extensive user profile. But from the front we list users and attributes from CF so that we can sort through various additional attributes.

I am not sure what you mean by "additional attributes".
Since version 1.16.0, you can sort the results by various criteria including all the available filters.

I write about com_users
Sorry for not more specific.
Exmple:
Table list users on front page (filtering by job)
Searching register users by specific job. (user in proces registration add info about job)
JF can be used for com_content and com_contacts
You can create contacts from users in com_contacts.
Also you can possibly create a php script to map and update a custom field from users to a custom field of contacts.

Also there is the "User - Contact Creator" core plugin, that creates a contact for the user when registers.
