Yes the slash is a resrved character in the url.
May i ask in what kind of custom field are you using that?

Hi Sakis,
The fact that a slash is a reserved character should not be a reason for the website to result in an error. I guess it should be possible to url-encode the string so that it has no effect on the url when using a reserved character like a slash.
The custom field is a text-field.

As you can see all the special characters (slash included) are url encoded.
Desipte that, most browsers still treat it as a slash (i.e. uri reserved char).

Hi Sakis,
Maybe you can use the same functionality as Joomla uses in the creation of an alias. Special characters are removed or replaced by a "-" character.

Unless the alias is saved somewhere (as Joomla does in it's components), it can be very error prone to replace url characters on the fly.
This can create way more problems than those it tries to fix.

OK, so slashes can better not be used in custom field values in at least custom fields of type 'text'.
We willen replace slashes on our website with a non-special character.
