Hi!

I noticed that when removing all the filters, there are no results returned. 

"No search results in English (en-GB) could be found for query: ."

It also says en-GB even though that's not even a published content language (it's using en-US).

As a user, I would expect it to show all items (starting with the menu item's root filter?) if all filters are removed.

Is there any way to make that happen?

Okay, that's a misunderstanding about the primary filter on my part, but my (usability) issue remains: when all filters are removed, no content shows.

In almost any other filtering interaction across the web, when all filters are removed, everything shows up (because it's no longer filtered).

Is there any way to acheive that? I'm using this on a site with resources for people with cognitive disabilities and breaking such an established interaction pattern will not work for this audience.

So sorry for the delay; my daughter got Covid around that time and it's just been super hectic trying to catch up since then.

For example if you have your categories filter in a listening state, that filter will me implicitly selected (e.g. when visiting a category page) and the user cannot reset it, even if he/she clears all the filters.

I tried to do that but it didn't work as expected. Nothing showed up. But I'm thinking it might be related to this joomla bug so will test again with the PR.

Also, is it possible to have a multiselect filter in a listening state? Because it could be that someone wants to see multiple categories at once. (Will have to check if this was the sticking point for me.)

I find it a somehow confusing showing all the conten and all the filters straight away. Also this can be very resource intensive, as it has to trace all the filters of an entire database, which could be enormous in some cases.

I can't speak to the resource intensiveness, but to me, this is a filter (even though it technically acts as a search). When you don't filter something, everything goes through. (Vs a search, which shows nothing until you search by something specific.) It's a little bit like on Github in issues or PRs; if all filters are removed, it shows everything. I'd be really disoriented if I removed all filters and no issues showed up :)

Agree but you have to keep the context of the page. E.g. if it is a category page, the category should not get removed or when it is a search page, the search term should not get removed.

This is the core of my point. The user should not be able to remove the page's context, which could be a filter (e.g. category).

I agree with that, but if you have the "selected filters" available, the root filter (like a category) can be removed and thus, you end up with no content. I would like the root filter (parent-level category) to always be applied, but for people to be able to select or remove subcategories. Does that make sense? That way it would keep the context always.
