I'm really enjoying using JFilter Pro. I've integrated it with an event directory built with joomla articles and custom fields. But there's a feature I'm missing: being able to sort by custom field.

I'm using this plugin by Nicholas from Akeeba:

With it I'm able to sort my blog category views by a custom date field (event start date), and I'd like to be able to do the same with search results from JFilters. I think Nicholas' approach is really good, using a plugin to "alter" the query returned by com_content to get it sorted by a selected custom field. Maybe something similar could be done with JFilters? Or maybe there's already something out there I've failed to find that already does that? Thanks in advance!

It is in our roadmap to add sorting rules based on the filters.

I am aware of Nicholas plugin, though to my knowledge this works only with the category blog pages.
Probably can work with other types of pages, if modified.

FYI, we added the "Sorting Rules" feature in our latest release (1.16.0).

This gives you the option to sort the resulst by custom fields.
