Hi there,

I'm building a digital library style website and I'm hoping to use JFilters to enhance the search experience but it doesn't seem to be coping with sub-categories which have the same and alias.

Our 5 top level categories are all unique, but the sub-categories for each are largely identical, so for example we have:

Lived Experience Leadership
 - Foundational / Seminal Work
 - Discussion and Analysis

and then we have:

Lived Experience Workforce
 - Foundational / Seminal Work
 - Discussion and Analysis

As per attached screenshot, the problem is that if i click on "Discussion and Analysis" under the "LIved Experience Workforce" category, it loads the corresponding sub-category from "Lived Experience Leadership" and this is the same for all subsequent sub-categories, it will only load the first instance.

Any ideas why this might be happening and if there's any way around it?

Unfortunately, renaming my sub-categories is not an option.

Hi

The reason why this happens is because we support different kinds of url structure than the Joomla content component (com_content).

Joomla always uses a hierarchical url structure (e.g. categoryPage/level1/level2/level3).
In the case of JFilters this is totally configurable. You can call a category page with just it's alias (e.g. jfiltersPage/level3).

For that to work properly, requires the categories to use unique aliases.

The only solution i can suggest atm, is to use unique aliases in your sub-categories.

Thanks for the quick reply, and that makes sense if a little bit of a bummer in my case.

But that's ok, I'll just prefix the alias with the initials of the parent category, which should do the job.
